I am sitting at Sansei Sushi in Kihei, enjoying one of my favorite cuisines (Sushi and French are neck and neck). I am combining the last two days into one entry, because they have been easy days. Even an adventurer needs to have a couple of slow days to recoup. Otherwise, I get home feeling more worn out than before I left.

Yesterday, I headed south to Makena and parked at Big Beach and then walked to Little Beach. Big Beach has the classic appeal of beaches and is a popular place to visit. It was not overly crowded, but had its fair share of people on it. read more…

La Perouse Bay — Snorkeling Heaven

OK – you may not believe it, but here I sit, at Sansei Sushi again. I promise you, I am not planning on getting accustomed to listening to drunk people singing while I chow down on raw tuna, but through a situation of happenstance, here I am, for the second night in a row.

I woke up bright and early today, as I was completely determined to get some quality snorkeling in. It was my last day here and I just wasn’t going to leave, without having a killer snorkeling experience. read more…

Aloha Maui

My Goodbye to the Ocean in Maui

It’s almost midnight and I am in my own bed. Which to me, is always a great way to end a vacation, especially one that involved camping and getting wet and sometimes uncomfortable.

I woke up early as usual, and took the next couple hours to finish packing, wrapping up loose ends and strolling around Wailuku. Most of the stores were closed and I peered in the windows and looked at the artsy stuff and overpriced clothing. I am sure lots of people don’t think twice about buying a pair of pre-ripped shorts or a beachy looking shirt for $200 and, soon enough, it ends up at Goodwill, where I will happily swoop it up for $3.99. I did go in the hip coffee shop and get my last Hawaiian smoothie for breakfast. I stood outside and spoke to a local, who was actually a transplant from NY. I am sure Maui is full of east coast transplants.read more…
